ABOUT WOMEN TALK TECH

Award Winning Business Podcast By and For Women

THE PROBLEM...

The tech sector is one of the most dynamic and innovative industries. But despite its many successes, it still faces a significant problem: the gender gap.

Women are significantly underrepresented in the tech sector, both in terms of numbers and leadership roles. A 2020 report by Girls Who Code revealed that women hold only 24% of computing jobs in the US, despite comprising nearly half of the workforce. Leadership roles are even more imbalanced, with women occupying a mere 5% of CEO positions in the top 100 tech companies.

This gender gap has far-reaching consequences beyond equality and representation. Studies indicate that diverse teams excel in innovation, creativity, and problem-solving. By excluding women from technical and leadership positions, the tech industry misses out on a vast pool of talent, skills, and perspectives crucial for its ongoing success.

Numerous structural and cultural barriers perpetuate the gender gap in tech. Hostile work environments, limited access to mentorship and networking, and biased hiring practices all contribute to this problem. By addressing these barriers and fostering greater gender diversity and inclusion, we can cultivate a more vibrant, innovative, and prosperous industry that benefits everyone.

Our Ambition Ignited

At our core, we believe that everyone deserves equal opportunities and representation in the tech industry. That's why we are committed to promoting greater gender diversity and inclusion in tech by:

  • Addressing structural barriers that make it difficult for women to enter and advance in the industry.
  • Providing more opportunities for mentorship and networking.
  • Promoting more positive and inclusive attitudes towards women in tech.

We are excited to be part of a growing movement of individuals and organizations committed to achieving gender parity in tech. We believe that by working together, we can create a more equitable and innovative industry that benefits everyone. Join us on this important mission and help us build a brighter future for women in tech.
